Curaçao Diving Paradise

Tarpon City is the name of the dive site where almost always Tarpons (large fish) can be found provided you visit this site before 10 AM. The dive site is at the harbor entrance of Willemstad. It is not allowed to dive here without permission of the authorities. There is a high fine for diving without this permission.

Trunkdivers organized a guided dive at Watamula. The sea was very calm so this was the perfect time for a dive there. After the briefing we jumped off the rocks at Watamula; three people of the group chose to jump in the "Hole of Watamula". We went through the tunnel along the coast, then along the drop-off for a while and then towards the coast to finish the dive at Playa Gepi. We could leave the water without a problem.

During a guided dive with a group of divers who were on the island because of a wedding of one of them we (Trunkdivers) organized a guided dive for part of this group at the Superior Producer wreck. During this dive the visibility was exceptionally well. Because of this the pictures of the wreck are very clear. As long as I dive in Curaçao I have never seen the wreck this clearly. The pictures of the wreck are made with available light at a depth of about 30 meters. 

During a dive here I spotted an extremely rare fish. It looks like a bird with fins at the wingtips. It is a Polka-Dot Batfish. According to Paul Human "not reported in the Caribbean". Apparently the fish can be found here. This is the last place where I would look.

Diving in the harbor is not permitted unless you have approval from the harbor authorities. There is a high fine for diving here without permission.
